Nonsensical Review: Movie - Hidden Blade

The dog on bombing scene deserve an Oscar and a truckload of treats.

I went to watch this movie without prior expectation aside from "Oh it's Tony Leung"—a well-known Hong Kong actor and "Oh it's Wang Yibo"—a K-Pop idol (The Untamed was pretty good).

One of the few world war movies focusing on espionage from the Eastern perspective I ever watched. Great picture quality, nice suits, lots of foxy smoking scenes I almost thought the cigarette brand's probably a huge sponsor. It's supposed to be a world war movie but there's this stylish trendy nuance that somehow made me forget this was set in the 90s.

Vibe is cold-blooded and mostly soulless. The crying scenes felt bland, though the occasional microexpressions were convincing.

The ending is predictable, though the two main actors presented it in delightful performance. I mean, there's no way China would let people produce a movie that doesn't support that particular political ideology.
