Using a slowly vanishing term, call it a blogroll. Just a page with bunch of links.
Places on the web
Simply put, these are my favorite blogs, websites, and channels on the www that always on my radar, which I check from time to time. I unapologetically recommend readers to stumble upon them. This list is in random order.
Cinema Therapy
Therapist and filmmaker collaborate to use movies for free mental health therapy session. They're so good. I collect a lot of insightful one-liners from Jono (the therapist) and cried together with Alan (the filmmaker). My best friend always (lovingly) wonder why I bother to analyze fictional characters. With these two internet dads, it's like I finally have a friend to geek about what I've been geeking alone. I absolutely enjoy their Villain Therapy series where they try to understand why a character is the villain (and are they treatable) and Psychology of Hero series where they break down what drives one character to be the hero.
Experts Reviews on Movies
Vanity Fair | Insider | WIRED | GQ
Again, I like watching movies. I also love to hear experts talking about their fields because we can see they're brimming with excitement about subject they care and passionate about, they know what they're doing, and that positive energy is contagious. Some great experts are also good communicator, they can break down complicated problems in easy to digest explanation. Movies break-downs is a nice subtle push to entertainment industry to slip real educational content too instead of just doing it for the dramatic effect.
In fact, it's a good thing to have real experts showing off their skills once in a while, because the current society is invaded with know-it-all attitude led by ignorant influencers enhanced by social media algorithms. People who actually know their studies will acknowledge their limitation and openly admit their mistakes, instead of using "trust me bro" mentality.
Rejected Princesses
Absolute queens. Rebel princesses. Badass women who made history but barely made the news (and history books). A huge shout-out to feminism. The authors don't give a frick about toning down his voice and support, and neither do I. The extensive database of women—real and fictional—who are the heroine of their own stories.
Anime Manga Studies
Anime manga is ✨ legitimately studied in academic environment ✨
YuumeiArt

deviantArt like, in 2007? 2008? Wenqing's art takes me to a whole
another realm. I downloaded her arts for wallpapers.
Shilin Huang

Derek Sivers
My favorite modern philosopher (if that's a thing). He never ceased to inspire with bite-sized insights. I respect him as a fellow human being. My all-time go-to piece of his wisdom: The opposite might also be true | Useful not True
Omeleto
Engaging, high quality short movies that is too good to be free. I should've paid for watching.
Gates Notes
It was okay when he was active in Microsoft. But when he founded Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and started this blog, I was transformed into a fan. He lived my dream life: read, write, meet nice people doing amazing things around the globe, and making impact for society. I mean, who doesn't want to personally invite their favorite author and discuss their newest book? I, too, want to personally beg Suzue Miuchi-sensei to continue Glass Mask.
Ditelan Keramaian, Mati Perlahan
The Conundrum Journal
Personal, inspiring, and educational. One of my favorite essayist.
Project Multatuli
Bersama-sama marah pada kekuasaan. Kadang menguras energi mental, sering menguras emosi.

Does exactly like it said, investigating how, why, when a quote appeared, and is it really said by the person it claimed to be.
Monday Kickoff
Wow-I-learn-something-new-today article recommendation every Monday.
Wait but Why
Thought-provoking essays with stickman figures written by high-functioning master procrastinator that we can relate so much.

Good News from Indonesia
Kalau capek dengan berita tentang Indonesia pada umumnya negatif menyerap energi kaya Dementor, mampir sini buat dapat secercah optimisme. Good things happen, they just don't make revenue.
Maggie Appleton
Honestly I don't have the brain to process 90% of what she talks about in her essays, I visit her website for pure aesthetic satisfaction and interesting writing concept. Such beautiful website. Amazing person.
